GIVE ME YOUR BURDENS

Life is chaotic, Lord.

There is often someone or something we love in a state of

confusion, uncertainty, pressure, or some level of crisis.

And we carry it with them.

We’re supposed to carry it with them.

But sometimes it’s heavy and our minds, our hearts,

and even our bodies feel the weight.

Prayer is a refuge and relief, but sometimes

I fail to stay in that fortress and rest in Your care.

Come to Me, dear one, and rest your head.

Rest your heart.

Rest your aching muscles and frayed nerves.

Choose your thoughts.

Remember My faithfulness.

I am honored and lifted up not when you are strong and self-sufficient, but when you recognize your need and call on My name. The world and even the church admire strength and ability. But I look for those who know they need Me. The world and even the church listen to voices that are young, attractive, educated, respected, and have a following. But I turn My ear to voices that are broken with sobs, hesitant to speak in My presence, hoping to find mercy and help in time of need.

It is your heart that I seek. You come to Me seeking relief and help, but I give you much more. When you surrender your burdens to My care and My will, you enter into My presence and peace. It is not a permanent state, but it is always fully available because it is found in Me, Myself. Your need drives you to Me, your fortress and refuge. You may need to surrender your burden over and over, but in each encounter our hearts become more entwined and your faith is strengthened.

Do not compare yourself with others or feel that you should be getting stronger. It is your weakness that drives your heart to seek Mine. Surrender and dependence and gratitude are the touchstones that keep your heart tender and receptive to Me. Rest in the knowledge of My love and care and cast your burdens on Me, because I love you.

  1. Thank you! I so needed these words of encouragement today. I don’t know “who” is the one responsible for leaving the brochures at the laundromat here in Harlan Iowa but I “happened” across “Hear My Voice” brochure one of the last times I was there… it spoke to my heart deeply so I took it home with me.
Tonight, I found myself again needing encouragement and as I opened my Bible I found the brochure again and decided to check out the website. Once again I found the peace and assurance I needed.
So, whoever you are… God bless you!
